As part of its work to enhance access to quality care, the SNF Global Center for Child and Adolescent Mental Health at the Child Mind Institute recently launched public-facing resource hubs in Brazil and South Africa.

The new resource sites build on extensive work the SNF Global Center has done with mental health professionals in each country and beyond. In South Africa, fellowships hosted in partnership with Radio Workshop encourage young communicators to report mental health stories in collaboration with local media outlets; a consortium of nonprofits including Radio Workshop and Grassroot Soccer, another SNF grantee-partner, are developing a curriculum for low-intensity youth mental health interventions that can be delivered by near-peers; and partnerships with the South African Medical Research Council and Stellenbosch University support youth mental health research and culturally adapted educational materials.

In Brazil, the SNF Global Center is working with researchers at the Instituto de Estudos para Políticas de Saúde to conduct a systematic review and map youth mental health services that currently exist nationwide and with the University of Sao Paulo to develop and adapt treatment manuals, including some for cognitive behavioral therapy in children and adolescents. It has hosted an expert gathering in Rio de Janeiro that brought together mental health stakeholders from Brazil and around the world to discuss improving mental health outcomes for youth and has also welcomed clinical fellows in psychiatry, psychology, and therapy from Mozambique for training at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre in southern Brazil.
