In 2021, to help ensure safe air transport for sick and injured patients from remote areas of Greece to treatment centers across the country and Europe, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) supported the procurement and delivery of four medevac aircraft to the National Center for Emergency Care (EKAV) as part of the SNF Global Health Initiative (GHI).

The $ 29.6 million grant aimed to strengthen the capabilities and efficiency of EKAV’s air ambulance services through the procurement of two Augusta Westland 109 Trekker helicopters and two Beechcraft King Air 350C aircraft outfitted with the relevant specialized medical equipment.

The Hellenic Air Force General Staff created a video to mark the three-year anniversary of the Beechcraft King Air 350 aircraft entering service.

English subtitles will be available soon.

The four air ambulances have contributed significantly to covering EKAV’s medevac needs, providing emergency pre-hospital and medical care to thousands of patients across the country.

In the span of three years, they have carried out 1,500 missions and completed 3,600 hours of flight, transporting more than 1,900 patients.
