A grant from SNF made as part of its Global Health Initiative (GHI) aims to help girls in Botswana achieve positive outcomes in health, education, and relationships.

It supports Youth Impact Botswana's school-based Choices intervention, in which near-peers facilitate sessions designed to help middle-grade students develop agency in relationships and in life, with ongoing support provided by volunteers and teachers.

The Choices programming focuses on the importance of staying in school, HIV awareness, avoiding unintended pregnancies, how to cope with anxiety, and cultivating power-balanced relationships.

A randomized controlled trial by the organization that included more than 40,000 students showed a 40% reduction in teenage pregnancy among participants.
