As part of its Global Health Initiative (GHI), the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) supports the establishment of a fellowship program for early-career nephrologists from Greece at major clinics and hospitals in Europe. The fellowship takes place under the auspices of the European Renal Association - European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA) and the Hellenic Society of Nephrology (HNS) and aims to bolster Greek doctors’ expertise in the field.
The HNS is a nonprofit scientific organization that connects members in the field of nephrology by organizing educational gatherings. The ERA-EDTA is the association of European kidney specialists with a regional focus on Europe and the Mediterranean.
The grant supports a two-year program enabling total of four early-career nephrologists from Greece to work at European renal centers and nephrology clinics that belong to the European Renal Association. During each of the two years of the program, one yearlong and one six-month fellowship will be awarded.
This grant builds on SNF’s previous support for the fellowship in 2015 which enabled five doctors from Greece to participate.
The recipients will benefit from experience in the professional environment of major hospitals and renal and nephrology clinics in Europe, leading to improvements in their practice in Greece.
