Enhancing access, quality, and equity for all in mental health care
SNF’s Global Health Initiative (GHI) supports efforts to enhance mental health care and catalyze sector-wide transformations in access, quality, and equity in for people of all ages, in Greece and around the world. Significant support under the GHI’s mental health pillar has enabled the establishment of several major centers that work collaboratively to facilitate wide, lasting improvement in the depth and quality of mental health resources available. The system-strengthening Child & Adolescent Mental Health Initiative (CAMHI) in Greece and the SNF Global Center for Child and Adolescent Mental Health at the Child Mind Institute both aim to enhance youth mental health through a range of complementary efforts in training, research, youth engagement, and more. The SNF Center for Precision Psychiatry & Mental Health at Columbia University aims to produce breakthroughs in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of serious mental illness. Moreover, a wide spectrum of work with impact on organizations around the world is supported under the pillar, including clinician training, youth empowerment, music and arts therapy, awareness and anti-stigma campaigns, school-based programs, psychosocial counseling, addiction prevention, mental health first aid, and much more. The new SNF public hospitals in Thessaloniki, Komotini, and Sparta will introduce state-of-the-art mental health infrastructure and services for communities in the geographic peripheries of Greece. The SNF University Pediatric Hospital of Thessaloniki will include a model Center for Child and Adolescent Mental Health rooted in international best practices to holistically address the needs of young people and their families.
