Evangelismos Athens General Hospital

SNF’s Global Health Initiative (GHI) grant to Evangelismos Athens General Hospital provides for the renovation of two Intensive Care Units (ICUs) as well as the Emergency Department. Specifically, it covers the renovation of spaces for 32 ICU beds in the 2^nd Intensive Care Unit and the former Stroke Unit, Department B of the Pateras Wing. These are in addition to the 20 ICU beds already added through SNF’s Global Relief Initiative for the COVID-19 Pandemic.

This project was undertaken in collaboration with the Athanasios and Marina Martinou Foundation and Aliki Perroti. The Construction Design study for the renovation of the two ICUs has been completed, incorporating input from end users at Evangelismos that helped to optimize design elements and account for new modalities and best practices that emerged from the pandemic.

The tender process for the ICU project has been completed and the contractor will be selected soon. The renovation works is expected to start by the end of 2023. The preliminary design for the renovation of the Emergency Department has been completed.
