Building on a decade of collaboration, SNF is helping The Hospital and Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children in Banepa, Nepal, respond to the urgent threat of landslide.

In September 2024, the hospital narrowly escaped devastating damage in a landslide, triggered by record rainfall, that nearly reached the main hospital building. SNF’s grant, made as part of its Global Health Initiative (GHI), will help the American Himalayan Foundation restore the hospital’s damaged perimeter, stabilize the area with retaining walls and terraces, and install drainage systems that will reduce the risk of future landslides.

These repairs and upgrades will help the hospital focus without interruption on its mission of providing care, including thousands of life-changing orthopedic surgeries each year, rehabilitation, orthopedic devices, and more, to children in Nepal, many of whom would otherwise lack access to these specialized services.
